It's time to start rehearsing again!

Uncategorized Jul 14, 2021

Rehearsals have taken place in some of the most unique of places in recent times! As restrictions on gatherings have begun to ease, we’ve seen ensembles move from virtual, individual spaces in their homes to large community halls, fields, gardens, and even under railway bridges! There’s no limit to what is possible when the draw of being able to perform together is so great.

It has been fun to learn of all of the new ways ensembles have invented in order to come together during the past 18 months. Some have discovered new acoustics in a venue they never dreamed they’d be in, so much so that they are not in any hurry to return to their traditional rehearsal space! We wonder how many of our global community have experienced the same?

As so many ensembles are now looking ahead to performing for live audiences once again, festival events too are looking to that very same thing. Bringing people together to share their talents for not only their own enjoyment but for the enjoyment of others is a wonderful thing. Ensembles just don’t randomly appear and create a magical experience in any venue! There are hours and hours of dedication and preparation which go into every performance.

In these early days, we feel that just bringing ensembles together is important. There shouldn’t be a competitive edge or pressure to perform. These past 18 months have been stressful enough and, quite frankly, we all just need a break. We need to be together and share in something joyous.

Our LIMF 2021: Reimagined & Live! event, on 29 October, will be just that. It’s an opportunity for choral ensembles to refresh, reset and enjoy singing in a relaxed, fun and truly inspiring venue. We cannot wait to see the smiling faces of our audiences and performers alike. The blending harmonies soaring between the nave and transepts of historic Southwark Cathedral will surely give you goosebumps and put a smile on your face. Now, who doesn’t want to be a part of that?
